　昨日取り上げたJT（02/18/12付）より，もう１つ英語表現を拾います。

　disseminateとは，「（ニュース・思想など）を広める，普及させる」とあります（『ジーニアス英和辞典』大修館書店』）。LDOCEによれば，to spread information or ideas to as many people as possibleとあり，できる限り多くの人に広めるというニュアンスが含まれるようです。
　同じ「普及させる」という意味のprevailとはその点で異なるといえます。prevailの定義は，prove more powerful or superiorとあり，さらに，be widespread or cuurent in a particular area or at a particular timeと説明がなされています（ODE）。強大な力を持ったものが，特定の場所，時代に広まるというニュアンスが含まれるといえます。
