resemblance

　English Vocabulary Elements（Oxford University Press）より，英語表現を拾います。

　The suffixes -like, -ish, -esque, and -y all form adjectives such as childlike, yellowish, picturesque, and risky. These suffixes are in fact all somewhat similar semantically; they help to describe a property in terms of its resemblance to some object.（p.49）

　今回取り上げるのはresemblanceです。「類似点」という意味で知られていますが，ここでは意味が通りません。『リーダーズ英和辞典』（研究社）を参照すると，「＜古＞外観，外形，様子」とあります。形容詞を表すsuffixの話をしていることから，「様子」や「外形」といった訳語がしっくりくると思います。ただ，この用法は古いものでLDOCEやODEにも説明がなかったことを考えると，論文などでは出てくるにせよ，日常では使われないものだと推測できます。
