　in the wake of 〜で「〜のあとに続いて」（『スーパーアンカー英和辞典』学研）とあります。このタイトルからすると，〜の部分には良くない出来事がくるのではないかと思い，語義を調べると，if something, especially something bad, happens in the wake of event, it happens afterwards and usually as a resuly of it（LDOCE）とあります。やはり，悪い出来事がくるようですが，正確に言えば，「負の連鎖」を述べる時に使われるのではないかと思います。
