The idea of paying more is not fun, but it's a reality of life. It's a vicious circle: Costs rise and people need to make more money. It hasn't affected me so much yet, but if it does I'll have to change my lifestyle.

　今回着目したのは，funです。「楽しい」という意味で知られていますが，もう少し広い意味で用いられるような気がします。LDOCEには，behavior that is not serious and show happiness and enjoymentとあります。この語義からみると，「喜びを与える，周囲を楽しませる，陽気な」といった意味でも用いられるように思います。

　e.g. Jan's always so cheerful and full of fun.（LDOCE)
　e.g. Her sense of fun made her very popular at college.（LDOCE)

本文では，not funとなっているので，「不快である」程度の訳語がいいでしょうか。
