succumb

　the Gardian（12/08/11）より，英語表現を拾います。試験官が教員に対して，試験問題の中身をばらすという事件がイギリスであったようです。試験が関わると様々な事件が起こるものですね。

　succumbは「[ときにおどけて]（...に）屈する，屈服する，負ける（to）」を表します（『スーパーアンカー英和辞典』学研）。

尚，to stop opposing someone or something that is stronger than you, and allow them to take controlとあることから（LDOCE），自分ではとても対処できないくらい大きなものに屈するといったニュアンスがあるように思います。上記の記事と例文にあるtoの目的語，temptationはまさにそう感じられます。他にも，『スーパーアンカー英和辞典』（学研）に以下のような例文がありましたので，掲載します。
